Wernick Family Day – 5 August 2017 – Ogmore-by-Sea.
With brilliant organisation by the hosts and the magnificent Welsh coastal countryside as a backdrop, this year’s event extended over a blissfully sunny August weekend. Campers and caravanners arrived on the Thursday and enjoyed horse riding, raft-making, dog-walking (and even a little relaxing) on the Friday. A wonderful Family Day followed on the Saturday with more people arriving: whole lambs were roasted and eaten outdoors with yummy butter-baked potatoes and enticing salads; delicious puddings and home-made cakes were brought and much appreciated; more games were played; and a steady stream of beer and Pimm’s kept the party going!
As always, the day was a great opportunity for the family to get together, to catch up on news, to meet new family members, and to try and work out (yet again!) how the various branches connect. Sarah Minney, our family genealogist, is working on an extended family tree, which we’re hoping to have ready for next year’s event.
Again, a huge thank-you to hosts Benjie and Claire, the Niemens, and to everyone who else helped to make this year’s Family Day so brilliant.
